Students Camp is intense. There’s a lot to learn. There’s even more to do. But most of all, it’s fun! And, it’s FREE.

In-coming high school juniors and seniors with proven aptitudes in science and math are encouraged to apply.
Nowhere else can these students get real-world, hands-on experience in understanding the science of materials.
This week-long camp features highly interactive, lab-based activities tailored to individual interest areas.
Students learn how to use sophisticated materials science tools such as metallography, mechanical testing, light microscopy, fractography, scanning electron microscopy, image analysis, and chemical analysis. View Material Basics.
Working in teams, they also do a failure analysis project and report their findings to the rest of the class. Reports are also posted here.
Other activities include field trips to local companies and tours of area attractions. At the end of the week, every class celebrates its achievements with a graduation ceremony that involves a local ASM chapter and its members. These often become good opportunities to network and explore college and career options.
