ASM Materials Camps®

Utilizes hands-on learning principles of applied math and science. Materials Camps® offer a truly unique, team-based, problem solving experience that explores materials science and engineering principles.

For high school juniors and seniors who exhibit strong abilities in math and science. Limited space is available so register early! Camps may be residential (requiring students to stay overnight at the camp), commuter (drive up) or mini-camps (one day or less).

“The ASM Materials Camp has been the BEST camp experience I’ve had. BAR NONE this camp is seriously something special and an experience I will forever keep close to my heart. After being at this camp, I now know what I want to do in the future. This camp has not only impacted my life, but it has most definitely impacted someone else’s life. I cannot express how grateful I am to have been a part of this experience.”

ASM Materials Club

Join us for a new enrichment program for high school students to learn about Materials Science and Engineering, conduct experiments from home, meet professionals in the field, work in small groups to solve problems and compete in a challenge where one winner is awarded a $500 prize! Materials Club is online on Thursdays at 7 pm (EST).

Scholarships

The ASM Materials Education offers over 20 scholarships annually to undergraduates at traditional universities as well as technical and community colleges.

Materials Discovery

Middle school students work in small groups and use hands-on experiments to explore concepts of physical science while learning to draw conclusions and apply basic engineering principles. The program focuses on common materials such as metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites.

Undergraduate Design Competition

This design competition recognizes materials and related engineering department design curricula by teams of undergraduate students submitting design-focused projects from capstone courses or team projects.

Materials Genome

This opportunity is offered to U.S. undergraduate engineering programs to compete to receive a free license for cutting-edge materials design software and database packages, as part of the Materials Genome Toolkit Program.

Student Chapter Grants

We are proud to offer a Student Chapter Grant program, which allows ASM student chapters to submit a proposal describing their outreach activities for funding consideration. We have five grants to award of $500 each!

College Programs

To help students plan for a future in the field of materials, we have compiled a helpful directory of Materials Science and Engineering Programs at universities across the U.S. and Canada.
